1) Медицина: болезнь Минаматы (отравление ртутьорганическими соединениями), синдром Минамата (синдром, вызываемый отравлением органическими соединениями ртути, преимущественно метилртутью, впервые обнаружена в Японии, в городе Минамата в 1956 году)
2) Экология: болезнь Минамата (интоксикация ртутьорганическими соединениями в результате употребления в пищу рыбы и других продуктов моря, загрязнённых ртутью; описана в районе побережья залива Минамата в Японии)
